Coming Soon....Sparticuss the Gardenest! Kannoli and Kraut are proud to introduce our first guest blogger.
Sparticuss will be posting an awesome shrimp bisque recipe post tomorrow, but we wanted to introduce you to the gardener that both Kannoli and Kraut wish they were...
We hope that he will return throughout the summer to share gardening, growing and maybe even some canning tips with us.
What Sparticuss grows...
broccoli, squash, garlic, tomatoes (about 6 different strains and varieties), cucumbers, grapes, spinach, lettuce, corn, onions, potatoes, basil, sunflower, cabbage, pumpkins, mustard, peppers, beans, pineapple, avocado, parsley, oregano, cilantro (both the spice and the coriander), green apples, maple trees that they collect syrup from, pecans, walnuts, and hazelnuts. Kannoli’s favorite part...he grows hops and makes their own beer. I mean really?!?!
In addition...he grows everything from heirloom seeds! Nothing has been bread, cross bread or modified. Sparticus harvests and keeps seeds from year to year, which mean no investment is needed every spring. Some seeds are hundreds of years old...some have been smuggles over borders...but we won't talk about that.
This is the Kannoli’s dream garden. However...as a garden was attempted one year and failed miserably in her care...it will continue to be a dream and my gardening aspirations will have to live vicariously through the Sparticus family this summer. Maybe...if I’m lucky...I’ll plant a few tomato and basil plants and remember to water them and I’ll get a few good salads this summer. In the meantime...be on the lookout for delicious, humorous and slightly offensive posts from Spaticuss.
